QUOTE Provides step-by-step design techniques and track planning tips to save model railroaders time, money, and headaches. This must-have book also covers aspects of prototype freight and passenger operations, route design, and contemporary railroading.
To say this book is a classic is to understate the usefulness of this book to those who want to build a realistic model railroad. NOT to be confused with How To Run Your Trains Like The Real Thing by Tony Koester. This book is about designing a railroad based upon real principles but leaving you to decide how you want to operate it. It explains how to design a yard, various industries and countless other topics. If there is one model railroad reference book I could keep, it's this one.
