Interesting. When I first got the Brawa class 56.4 (G4/5H) i thought it was stunning. I then got the Brawa DRG 75.0 (T5) and that is a stunning locomotive, between these two are DRG 57.4 (Hh).

But my favourite locomotive of all time has to be my Marklin K.W.St.E. K (2-12-0) truely stunning.

If we are honest the Hornby-Rivarossi class 58 is a very good locomotive, let down by a poor motor/electronics combination. I havn't heard of anyone knocking the looks of it just the way it runs. I would take a locomotive that was less detailed but ran well rather than a highly detailed locomotive that runs badly.

Hi Ravenser,

The DRG was formed by merging 7 provincial railways. At the time of the merger locomotive production of these individual railways companies dwsigns stopped and standard designs were introduced (ok for every rule there is an exception, the DRG 18.5 was actually built to the plan of the Bavarian S 3/6). At this stage I think that there were inexcess of 30,000 steam locomotives on the books.

While most of the "standard" built locomotives have been produced (class 01, 02, 03, 05, 06, 19, 23, 24, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 50, 52, 61, 62, 64, 71, 80, 81, 84, 85, 86, 87, 89) there are a large number of the provincial railway locomotives that have not ben built.

If we look at just the class 18 (4-6-2) there are in fact 5 different locomotives
Class 18.0 Saschsen XVIII
Class 18.1 Wurttemberg C
Class 18.2 Baden IVf
Class 18.3 Baden IVh
Class 18.4 Bavarian S 3/6

The class 03 was designed to take over the role of the class 18's

I would say that by class varient only 30-40% of german steam locomotives post 1918 have been modelled

yep, makes you womder.

Just shows how inovative Brawa is choosing to model different locomotive to everyone else (the T5 is an exception)

Guess with all the Brand modellers out there if one brand can sell it to there brand specific modellers, the rest can as well.
