It must have been around 1965 when Dad would take me and my brother to a spot just north of Shifnal
each Saturday afternoon for a few hours spotting.
It was winter but we were hardy souls in those days.
Normally freight was thin on the ground on Saturdays but there was a constant procession of badly run down Granges
and the odd Hall hauling freight in both directions.
I've just had a look on Google to try and find the spot but things have changed a bit since then.
At least people in the area won't look at you in puzzlement when you say "that way is all around the Wrekin"....
