The Railways of Telford (UK)

A recent gift (December 2021) from a valued colleague, to mark my pending retirement and my move to Telford, was 'Railways of Telford' by David Clarke

This is my review of the book which, as you will read, should become a primer for me for exploring Telford and Wrekin and the wider area of East Shropshire!

It must have been around 1965 when Dad would take me and my brother to a spot just north of Shifnal
each Saturday afternoon for a few hours spotting.
It was winter but we were hardy souls in those days.
Normally freight was thin on the ground on Saturdays but there was a constant procession of badly run down Granges
and the odd Hall hauling freight in both directions.
I've just had a look on Google to try and find the spot but things have changed a bit since then.

At least people in the area won't look at you in puzzlement when you say "that way is all around the Wrekin"....
