Traction tyres for Mainline Class 45

It's usually possible to fit traction tyres from another make but you may have to shop around or quote the size that they are. For example Fleischmann make quite a few different sizes, as do other makers.

I gave up with traction tyres on mine and the crap motor. I purchased a complete replacement chassis from Bachmann for the earlier class 45 they did when they first introduced the centrally mounted can motor and cardan drive. My class 45 now runs extremely well.

Yes, that is an option, but don't forget that some of these locos are quite light in weight and don't have pickups on the motor bogie. If fitting Ultrascale wheels, then add lots of extra weight otherwise they will have little traction ability.
Reallistically though, I don't think there is a lot of difference in price between a replacement chassis and Ultrascale wheel sets!
The replacement Bachmann chassis fits the Mainline body with no modifications necessary.

Thanks for the replys.

Have had a search & found some traction tyres made by Roco at howes models.

May give these a go as the model is over 25 years old so don't want to spend more money on it than it's worth.

Will check out how good the motor is first though, as I think from memory it was a bit weak when run on my Dad's layout.
