I dont now if this has been done before but here it is what Train sets/packs would you like to see Hornby or Bachmann produce?
I would like some more pre nationalisation ones particulary trains packs
such as
(All of my suggestion suffer a lack of names as I dont specialise in expresses

Hornby GWR Express
1 GWR Castle/King/Grange/County
3 GWR Coaches 1 Composite 1 Restaurant 1 Brake 3rd
GWR express expansion pack
2 Composites 1Brake 3rd

LMS Express
Hornby Duchess/Coronation/Princess etc
LMS period 3 1st class coaches LMS period 3 3rd Class coach LMS period 3 3rd Brake
LMS Express Expansion pack
1 LMS 3rd Class coach 1 LMS Restaurant 1 LMS Parcels Coach

I have suggested no LNER set as the pack would be obvious and no southern as their is a lack of Coaches

QUOTE LMS Express
Hornby Duchess/Coronation/Princess etc
LMS period 3 1st class coaches LMS period 3 3rd Class coach LMS period 3 3rd Brake
LMS Express Expansion pack
1 LMS 3rd Class coach 1 LMS Restaurant 1 LMS Parcels Coach

A streamlined Coronation class with the above would be great, especially one with digital sound and prepared for smoke generator.

I'd also like to see the Scotrail sleeper coaches as a set too.

I think this has been discussed elsewhere, but my choice would have to be the pink 31 (31601) and 3 mk2's in wessex livery. Coach pack wise then Hornby would be best to sell the remaining coaches seperatly so that people can make the full rake up / do what they please with coaches.

All of it nice and wethered and that would probably sell well.

Would complement 31452 that Hornby are doing this year nicley

I do hope that if there are train packs that the coaches in them will have different running numbers or some other differentiating feature.

They are also great as "Present" hints - as in I'd _really_ like one of those... It takes the worry out of getting the mix 'n match wrong for the uninitiated buyer. The Talisman packs from Hornby will be on my Christmas hint list.

QUOTE To be honest I don't entirely see the point of train packs as the locos and carriages/wagons are all available seperately and everyone has their favourite carriages/wagons

I like the idea mainly because I tend to buy lots of locos and tend to put buying carriages and wagons on to a back burner. If I buy train pack then I get the lot in one hit and don't have to worry about finding coaches at a later date

My kind of train pack would be:

South West Trains class 442 Wessex - 5 car for the unknowing.

South West trains class 450 Desiro - again a 5 car.

Southern class 377 - 4 car.

Also a 4CIG, 4VEP.

Plus a proper HST coach pack to go with an all new HST.

nice ideas but most make use of non existant ready to run items? come on im sure there are plenty of more ideas out there in the pipeline what about train packs that could be produced by bachmann?
Something like
A Hall/Manor with Chocolate and cream mk1s
A Blue Deltic with Blue Grey mk1s
An A1 with Mk1s or thompson coaches
A class 66 with 3 bogie wagons
A Fairburn tanks and mk1 suburbans
Any thing else you think?

These are no longer a current product. I presume because they are not up to "Blue Riband" standard. The one coach I have does not have flush glazing. I don't know if the "low" coupling height is continued with the Mk1 coaches as I haven't got round to buying one those yet, but it is a minus point in my book.

Admittedly the bachmann mk1/2/1suburbans come in all colours
Will someone else suggest a train pack using already ready to run stock
We could have some freight one
a Bachmann 9f 10 16t Minerals and a Brake van (Could be or could not be weathered)
A Bachmann class 20 and 6 HBA Hoppers
A class 47 and 3 upcoming 100 ton tankers
A Bachmann Collet Goods and a Selection of Great western and private owner wagons with a toad
A Bachmann Crab and a Selection of LMS and private owner wagons
In fact the pre nationalisation sets could be applied to any company with appriopriate stock

1. SR Fairburn with crim/cream Bulleids

2. NSE cl. 47 with Mk. 1s/Mk. 2s (depending on region of NSE or period).

3. Cl. 377 or Cl. 375 (3-car set)- this shouldn't be too hard for Bachy to make as they already have lighting, roof profile, side profile, glazing, bogies and corridors- they only need a new, shorter body/chassis/end- would compliment nicely the MZ 171

4. Cl. 171 4-car set in SN.

5. Wessex pink 31601 + Mk. 2s

As you may have guessed, I prefer to model the SR
