I take your point about the new can motors and gear trains (though these can have their own issues and can vary distictly in quality of manufacture).
However, the installation of such motors and gear trains in the older models is probably beyond the capabilities of many people on here and many would not wish to alter the "originality" of their models.
The X04 motors are simple to service and work which explains their longevity.
