By following this thread, which was begun on October 19th 2009, you will be able to get the latest news of Twickenham & District MRC's ambititious new O gauge layout - ADDISON ROAD. Based on the West London Railway station now known as Kensington (Olympia) this model will allow the group to run a huge variety of steam era stock from many different railway companies and yet be true to the protoype.

As the layout develops, the group will post updates of progress

OK .... plenty of great images this week.

First up a detailed plan of the footbridge which will define the end of the scenic section at one end of the layout.....

Now a series of photos of how the other end of the layout is developing - again being the scenic break at the Hammersith Bridge end of the layout

Grant has been developing Kensington Crescent on his computer....

And now a close upof those buses - they'll need detailing/weathering!

We haven't posted for a few weeks, but that doesn't mean that we haven't been active!

With the new backscene now being built the control panel needed a new permanent mounting...........

Brandon has cut down the length of the baseboard bolts which will make setting up the layout quicker ......... and easier!

Back to modelling for now ..... more later!

Keep watching!!

And the footbridge is being test fitted....as you can see it helps to hide the fact that the tracks begin to converge onto the fiddle yard at the Willesden end of the layout...

Well here is the latest batch of houses for Russell Road ... although IMHO they lack detail and the colour's all wrong!

Apologies for the delay in posting news of our very successful Open Day

Here is a photo of Grant speaking to MRC Chairman Leslie Bevis-Smith

An overview of the tracks going off towards Claphham

Pat's signal goes nicely with this ex-LMS pacific

There's a prototype for anything! Yes, there is an elephant pushing a pram on the platform and 'yes' it did happen in real life - we have a photo to prove it! This exquisite model vignette was made for us by Carole Bevis-Smith, Leslie's wife.

A big feature of the layout will be the Russell Road backscene. We have in effect made our own 'Superquick' style low relief buildings from photos of the real house on Russell Road.

We had some etches made ....

And we assembled them ......

And now we've fitted some.................

This story is still being developed, these are not the final versions, this is still a 'work in progress'.
