I thought I would spend a day out at the Vectis Train Auction.
Vectis are the biggest toy train collector auctioneers in the world with some 10000 lots going under the hammer every year. Last year a Marklin train rumoured to have been owned by the Czar of Russia was sold by Vectis for £26000.
What price a Hornby train that had been owned by Prince Charles?
Anyway I turned up to find that there were a number of overseas visitors present including the Germans and the French. This is always a sign that there are interesting Marklin items present and that was indeed the case with one item fetching big money.
And it was a big day for Wrenn with one item going for over £1000!
And even Hornby collectors were after a slice of the action with one or two items going for ££££s.
