the mechanism is rubbish. the wheels are not necessarily round and the tilt system sucks and the couplings mean the passenger have to pole vault between coaches!.

But the bodyshells are actually very good and cover all the types including the prototypes (something the hornby model is unlikly to do) the finish was let down the not painting the inside of the window frames. but thats something thats easily corrected.

If the chassis was redone with new couplings i suspect it could easily be on a par with the new hornby one.

Thank You. I think that it is better to wait hornby model.

The (New) Hornby model uses the same tooling as the Dapol Pendolino they haven't even changed the pantograph and I don't think the drive arrangement also I just hope that they put better wheels on it and give it more weight.

Is that so or just a rumour , as I was under the impression it was a completely new, but not superdetailed model. If you are looking at the picture in the catalogue it probably is the Dapol model for the purpose of illustration.
i was also under the impression it was a new model. its aimed at the train set market. the one thing youngsters want their trains to do is run. is the dapol chassis suitable for this?
