Why dont you contact bachmann & buy a replacement i have found their customer services second to none & if their small parts they usually send you them free of charge.
I contacted them a few weeks ago for a Warship wheel set. They said they had no spares for Warships until the new batch of loco's comes in
So I assume they will not have a chassis also? I have however sent them an Email asking anyway, but it's the weekend so will not get a reply until next week.
If the worst comes and I can't buy a new one, I'll mill one (I have a mill) out of a solid lump of brass or iron (iron is almost a soft as brass). We have a non-ferrous metal dealer in Cardiff.
I had a Bachmann Warship with a bent solebar (chassis). The buffer beams were lower than the body
So I stripped the loco down to just the metal chassis and applied a small amount of hand pressure in an attempt to straighten it out.
SNAP SNAP SNAP IT WENT
I've glued it back together and reassembled the loco, and all's well, sort of. I'm not sure I can live with knowing the chassis is basically damaged.
Does anybody out there have a spare Warship Chassis to sell me??
Thanks
Rob.
Hi Rob,
From time to time a chassis will come up on ebay - I bought one for a spare body ( Top - still looking for the bottom) , a few weeks ago for AUD$75 ( about GBP 30ish) from a seller here in Oz.
There are probably some nice chassis kits available to take advantage of the situation and build a better unit with more appropriate motor / gearbox combo.
I don't wish to deny you the fun of putting your milling machine into employment, but for those of us not so tooled up the basis for a replacement chassis for Bachmann diesels need be nothing more elaborate than a thick brass strip. Two holes to take the bogie pivots with wires soldered on to form the ribs which allows the bogies some freedom in pitch, and the plastic motor mount glued or screwed on, and that's the mechanical basics taken care of. It's rather more work arranging mountings for interior and underframe detail, body mounting points, and ballast, but with a little prior thought there are no insuperable difficulties.

Dave, in my huntings, I found a Warship chassis and it still has the bottom on it!! I don't want or need the bottom, do you want it? Its missing 3 buffer shanks and two steps and it's in green. But you can have for just the cost of the postage if you want it !!
