What about 'Passed Firemen' grades?

2794 Views 18 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  ozwarrior
This is my 301st posting - I've been a 'Fireman' for some time.

In prototype practice, after around 300 firing turns, firemen were after examination regraded as 'Passed Fireman' and could be called upon to be drivers, and after so many more driving turns became full-time drivers.

So how about having the catagory of 'Passed Firemen' after 300 postings and become a 'Driver' at 500, as at present?

Regards,
John Webb

Seems like a promotion earlier than expected will be coming my way !!
Well done Doug, always thought there was too large a gap between fireman and driver. Now what's going to be inserted between Driver and Station Master for us all to aspire to

Have fun with that one !

Footplate Inspector? Running Shed Foreman? Or just 'Foreman' perhaps?

Presumeably change to this at about 750 postings?

John Webb

Added those as they make sense, and look at me, I'm now a Foreman...

Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestions.

But I want to stay a driver - can't I be a senior driver when I get that far please.

best regards
Brian

Nice one Brian !! All I can say is "there's always one".

Obviously what you need to do is get to 2,000 posts and then you can be "Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer". By doing this you can design, build and drive your own b
y engines. !!!!

Neil, as this site is viewable in the USA, you can't say "Fat Controller" as this is politically incorrect and the Thomas The Tank range has had to drop this title.

Personally as an overweight 57 year old, I think this is politics gone mad but "them's the rules".

I guess that it's a race between you and Gary to be the first to hit these milestones, so we all await your suggestions.

I would have thought that ALL promotions ought to be in multiples of 250, so how about a definitive list Doug. -- incidentally I think the system is an excellent way of recognizing the contribution to the forum made by an individual, so I applaud the refinements now in progress.

As you very rarely get a mention for the work you do Doug, I'll take this opportunity to propose a big vote of thanks for your efforts. long my they continue.

I have noticed that the names are interchangable in the books. My son likes to get read these stories before he goes to bed. Thats how I know this.

OK then, that's got Sir Topham sorted, now back to grades. Any ideas for 1250, 1500, 1750 and 2000 posts

Due to my work I am sat at a computer all day. As my job is very boring I keep myself sane by looking at stuff like this.

Dennis and Gary are well ahead of me so they may actually be at the figures you said. Maybe ask them what titles they would like.

IIRC wasn't he also called the Stout Gentleman....or is this also unacceptable?
