A frequent complaint by rivet counters is that this or that is not prototypical. Does it really matter whether it is or is not as long as you are happy running whatever you enjoy on your layout? Now while this has been discussed frequently before, here is a new dimension to the argument. The links below will show some very unprototypical, yet very nice, locos. These may be heresy to some, so if easily offended then don't follow the links. These locos are for the broadminded.

Would you buy these and run these on your layout?

GNER A4

Virgin A4

LNER HST

APT-P in LMS red

South West Bulleid Pacifics

I suppose the next question is, "what coaches do you run with your GNER A4?" Mk3's?

QUOTE However, I see no wrong in a modeller running any loco, even if that loco might be subject to the nitpickers..ie, 'that never ran in the modelled area' etc....
To be completely honest, I would happily spend 100 quid on a loco with a ficticious livery just to annoy the rivet counters. These people do more harm to the hobby than good. They seem to have forgotten that the hobby is about having fun rather than one upmanship.
