My only picture of the GT3, taken at an exhibition at Marylebone Goods Yard (1959?), shows this as a sort of streamlined 4-6-4? On the front of the off-side there is an area of grille work which may help to identify it. It had a tender but I've no picture of that, alas.

Sorry I can't be of any greater help.

Thanks for the link to the picture and information. It confirms that the exhibition I went to was in 1959. Unfortunately it was in my very early days of photography and I forgot to wind on the film so my two shots of GT3 are on the same negative! Cabbed Mallard, a 2-10-0 (not Evening Star, alas), GT3, 1000 (Midland Compound), E3059, 71000 Duke of Gloucester, Peak Class D28, D867 Zenith, D5699 and D8400, if I've translated the notes in my 1962 ABC correctly!

Regards,
John

By coincidence, there is a colour photo of GT3 on page 18 of the August Hornby Magazine (Issue 14) in connection with the announcement by Golden Arrow Productions of a 4mm scale resin body kit of GT3. It fits a Hornby 'Black 5' chassis.
