What loco classes would you like to return

I think we have enough steam engines in this country many of them needing restoration Tornado and the other new build projects have proved engines can still be built, but for the price of tornado 3 or 4 engines could be restored from barry wrecks.
Also why are all new builds locomotives, why don't groups build wagons and coaches. it would be great to see a bullied double decker coach.

On the first count, I agree, on the second, sorry no. There's just not enough manpower or volunteers available to restore what there is.

The Frame Plates for the Partiot have been ordered. It hoped that the frames will be on display at "The Steam, Steel and Stars II Gala" at Llangollen Railway next April. As convention decrees that a locomotive takes its identity from its frames, The Patriot will then exist!

Poliss has got me thinking: while I can't see it ever happening, it would be very interesting to see how successful Bulleid's Leader would have been with modern materials and a suitable settling in period to refine/fix the untried design features. In principal, the double-ended steam locomotive could have revolutionised suburban workings in and out of the large termini, as well as giving the drivers a more civilised cab than hitherto - and I'm sure the fireman's lot could have been improved compared to the initial designs.
By the same reasoning, Brunel's atmospheric railwaycould have been made to work properly with modern materials and dsign principles.

all the above are nice, well and good....for those more kean on collection.......but as far as I can see, there is a HUGE hole once filled by RTR makers, but of late sadly neglected [probably for glamour reasons?] and that is, for a state-of-the-art 0-6-0 tender loco for the popular companies/regions.

A GWR 4-2-2 Rover Class would be rather good - very elegant.
Add a few more LMS (and pre-LMS comapnies that made up LMS) non-Stanier locos to prove that there was life there before the GWR influence - the Patriot is a great idea - what about a much-maligned Claughton too? I've nothing against Stanier locos, I really love them too, but some balance would be nice...

I would ideally like an Ivatt Atlantic model.
There are no end of top end A4's, A3's, Pacifics of all regions but there is still a lack of work-a-day locomotives such as an O4,O2 or J11. I know some are available in kit form but I have not built from a kit and prefer to buy if available. I model only eastern Region so I am biased. At least we can have a WD now so the choice is improving.
