How much longer will we have to wait for the Rebuilt WC/BB? Hornby surely have almost all the bits except the body, so could they please do the decent thing!
I'd like some more things like the serco test train. Perhaps maybe release a couple of extra coaches to make it into a complete test train as it looks a little strange running with only 2 coaches and a VDA van.

Perhaps even do some mk2's in the Railtrack livery as well.

Well if Hornby can do that in 2006 then i'll certainly be happy.

I would like to see this model done from Hornby as this was my first train that i had on the Hornby Dublo set i had as a kid.

Way beyond any new locomotive, I would like to see a new coupling system that permits the simple vertical lifting of stock from a train. The current coupling system works very well but it looks AWFUL and it's a veritable pain in the buffers to remove a vehicle from the middle of a string of others.

I too would like a Blue Pullman, The prices they are going for on ebay, both for the old Triang and the much more accurate Kitmaster are getting a bit silly. So the only way I am going to get one is for Hornby or Bachmann to produce it.

Why don't you buy a Bachmann one?,
Aaaaaaarrghh!!- please don't refer to locomotives as 'trains'!!

I would love to see another production run of the APT. 2nd hand prices on eBay are incredible at the moment. The hard to find 'mint' sets go for silly money. Even poor examples with missing pantographs etc, still fetch good money. Ah well...dream on Paul.

But Rail when are you Brits going to learn that you mustn't fiddle with your trains.

I would like to see hornby produce a the 9F loco with engine mounted motor, that would go straight to the top of my shopping list, Also, i wonder if they would consider more ready to use semaphore signals, or even ones that can be taken apart and made into different configurations? is it possible? The existing selection is a bit dated, and looks very toyish (if there is such a word)

Erm...Why don't you buy a Bachmann one when they appear?-the pre-production ones were at Warley,-so Hornby are hardly likely to duplicate this!.
City Of truro is a must...

I started to build one ( Dapol Kit ), and even motorised it, but I haven't finished it yet. Too fiddely. I was even going to paint it in the STEAM April fools Joke BLACK livery.....

A RTR Super Detail one would be great. Perhaps even with a possibility to covert to a dukedog ......
Cannot agree about the plastic comment as today's locos are so very much better in every respect than 15, 20, 30, or 40 years ago! Yes they need handling with care BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT TOYS. The older style robust "outline" models were often a mere nod in the direction of the prototype and although built like tanks were poorly engineered and not great runners unless you like your locos to career around at ridiculously high scale speeds. I model LSWR/SR and GWR together because of where I grew up (in Exeter) and therefore feel relatively unbiased in my plea for more Southern models. Most of us have plenty of metal locos anyway because we have built our own while waiting for the big companies to re-issue or get around to introducing those we are missing.

Pat Hammond tells us in his latest tomb (The Story of Rovex Vol 3-great read!) that in the mid nineties Hornby measured up a 313 emu (as running with Silverlink and WAGN) which he says is almost indentical to a 314 (Scotrail), 315 (Great Eastern), and 507/508 (Merseyrail and ex-Southern Region). All I can say is YES PLEASE! The Hornby 2 car Networker would be great if I was planning a layout of the London Bridge to London Victoria via Peckham Rye service, but I'm not and how many people are? If my pal in the trade is right and Hornby are releasing a brand-new model of the Pendelino in 2006 (not the old Dapol model) that's great, but please don't forget the bread-and-butter models. I want a model railway, not a pendelino/eurostar/225 trainset.
I'm surprised to hear talk of a hornby pendolino especially as i think dapol still make it in limited numbers. It would be nice to get some reasonably priced overhead catenary to go with it even if it is unpowered.
I voted blue pullman but wouldn't mind seeing an A2 just to complete the lner pacific set. Surely to be going on with hornby could do to the pullman what they did to the triang hymek and re chassis and motor it with a few body upgrades.
The Dapol pendolino was fine - I never owned one i admit, but i would certainly get one get one if i could find one at a reasonable price.

How about Hornby re-doing the APT then? Again never had one here, but would really, really want one.

Yes, yes, yes

My only experience of the hornby APT is watching the stupid amounts of money second hand sets fetch on ebay. The only dapol pendolino i've seen running had an alarming wobble at one end. Probably just like the real thing knowing the bad reputation some of these wonderful Fiat products have!!

Its amazing that the APT and blue pullman both went the same way in model form as the real thing at around the same time.
If hornby redid the apt it'd have to go round the track for a couple of laps before remaining tilted and being dumped in a siding.
Interestingly I visited the NRm last year and saw the poor thing sat in exactly the same place outside and open to the elements as it was when i visited with the junior school 20 odd years ago just a bit greener in places.

At least the APT is now getting some TLC and has (will?) moved to Shildon.

At least part of the APT was at Shildon when I visited there in late September. There had been some degree of cleaning it up. I regret I haven't any pictures of it - I didn't have much film with me and only took pictures of the items I was most interested in.

John Webb
