Aside from loco's i wouldn't mind seeing a part roundhouse in the skaledale range. Probably a quarter would be most practical size wise something good to fill a corner of the layout and of course would go with the somewhat prehistoric turntable they still produce. The place where i work in Leeds is at the side of a full roundhouse, a half one and there used to be another full one at the end of the yard.

I notice within your poll is the Class 156 DMU, Hornby are going to produce that in three liveries in 2006, ex Lima models.

Personally I would like to see an upgrade Class 86 and 87 including a powered and dummy in Freightliner to haul these fabulous new Bachmann intermodals that are available...

The blue pullman is widely regarded as the precursor to the HST or inter city 125. The triang model of the 1960's and 70's is now somewhat unusual in the fact that the carriages are invariably worth more that the power and dummy cars despitetheir inaccuracies and their being only one or two types made. They were phased out on the rail network in the late60's and early 70's and none were preserved due to them being full of asbestos a fate which befell a lot of early dmu types as well.

The reason it may be popular could be the nostalgia of the real thing or the somewhta cack running of the old triang models, mine wqhich i sold recently howled like a banshee and sounded like it was derailing due to the wheel flanges running on the sleepers, not ot mention the sparks that it produced. A full train set is worth a mint as is the lord of the isles set which doesn't seem to have been greeted too enthusiastically by the looks of it.

If hornby is going to resurrect some of its more archaic types i suppose there is still hope in the future after all they remotored the hymek in the late 70's and surely the ringfield motor wouldn't take too much aggro to fit.

Hornby could produce 3 class 156's and only cover the variations in the Northern rail liveries, i don't know what it is with rail companies up here they are forever tinkering with colour schemes, just think of all the money they waste in repainting stock time and again.
As for the class 86 and 87 (and 90) this could be one area where hornby could produce a common chassis as to look at the hornby and lima types side by side there isn't much difference. Maybe this could lead to the earlier electrics being produced too.

As one who voted for and was a little disappointed to hear Hornby are not making a Blue Pullman , I still think Simon Kohler has presented good arguments for what they have done and the aim to use the Pendolino as an attraction for todays generation to join our great hobby is of course an excellent marketing ploy.

I wonder if the success or not of the Lord of the isles set which is a really old mould, will influence Hornby to then consider a Blue Pullman. I don't think most of us want super detail and many of us would buy 2 or more to modify the coaches to what we want.

How about some decent wagons instead of endless wish lists for obscure prototypes.

The Seacows are excellent, but there's so much rubbish in the range.
The divide between adult models/toys and trainset standard items, is quite marked in the Hornby range.
When it comes to wagons, they do quite poorly for adult modellers.

Looking at the 2006 catalogue, the only worthwhile wagons are:

Seacows
HAAs
HBAs
CDAs
MHAs
VEE Tanks (not the ex-Lima bogie ones which are awful)

I was browsing the 2006 Hornby catalogue this evening and noticed the loco in the "Thomas & Friends" section. That positioning may say all you need to know, though some of the buildings look tasty enough.

If the Hornby genie was to grant me a wish I'd ask for a steam loco chassis which had a mounting point for a "Piston Sync" detector for hooking up to sound chips. I'm a great believer in planning ahead on stuff like that - design it in now, use it later.

Oh and a BR liveried TPO. I have one of the '60s vintage maroon models but have long since lost the ramps for the treadles.

Well,if Simon Kohler says Hornby aren't considering making the Blue Pulmann,I would have thought that would be the definitve answer,-So what's the point of going on about it in the vain hope that they might change their mind

If you really want a 4mm scale Blue Pulmann you should be looking elsewhere:-

I wonder if hornby will look at reintroducing the class 87's with mk3's while the pendolino is being developed given their love of all things virgin. Much like virgin are looking at while the real pendolino's go in for yet more improvements, this time sanding equipment upgrade to help with adhesion problems and wheelflats! I wonder if the mainland european variants are as problematic as these seem to have been.

Perhaps the next diesel hornby look to super detail should be the class 58 given that the original is very dated to look at andhas the same piddling little motor as the hornby 0-6-0 tank engine range, presumably due to the restricted body width of the thing.
