Japan is nine hours ahead during Winter Time (GMT) and eight hours ahead in Summer Time (BST). People I have worked with (in the electronics / software sector) tend to get into the office about 9am and leave when their tasks for the day have been completed. When I was there we never got out of the office before 9pm.

So at 9am our time in the winter, they are thinking about going home.

Its one hour different to Perth AU :)

to find Tokyo time "The computer way".

Double click on the taskbar at the RH bottom of your computer screen (click on the time)
click the timezone tab
use the drop down list and go to Osaka, Sapporo, Tokyo
it shows GMT+9 hours
