When Monday's precipitation falls as snow...

It appears that the heavy rain which affected southern Britain on Monday was part of a larger system which reached down into central Europe. The Bernese Oberland was hit by heavy snow and the Bernese Oberland Bahn services were severely disrupted. This is the same region that had large sections of track washed away in the rainstorm of summer 2005.

The station at Jungfraujoch is the highest in Europe and underground. The area around it is above the permanent snow line, though judging by this photo I took on July 21st 2005, not everybody appears to know this

Coincidentaly it snowed here too in the Victorian Alps. I haven't actually verified this, it said it on the news.
Well any sort of precipitation would be welcome here in Queensland!
