Hi David & welcome to the forum,

The 1024/5 decoders were good in their day, but could be a bit noisy at low speeds.

Check the stall current of the 1424 to see if it is within the range of the 10310, if it is then go ahead - the Silver mini is an excellent decoder. If you have any problems then give Stan at MacKay models (0141 887 9766) a call - he's very helpful.

There are other excellent decoders available (have a "trawl" through the threads), but please don't fit your model with a cheap decoder - a decent decoder will make it even better !
