As some of you may know I am contemplating moving to code 75 so I can have live frog slips. By extension it seems logical to have crossings as well. Simple?

I was surfing away and came across Alan Gartner's site and discovered the "wiring live frog crossings" bit and freaked out. Suggestion? Use a reverse loop module - per crossing. I don't think so.

Having drawn the two running scenarios with PaintBrush, it seems I need a DPDT switch to change the polarity of the "narrow" or "inner" Vs of the crossing IYSWIM.

I have two questions:
1) Am I correct?
2) I was thinking of using a relay that would be switched by the route setting (ie a DCC accessory output) which sets up the points which lead into the crossing itself. Will this work?

Or should I just stick with dead frog crossings?

Thanks Lisa. I've not used relays before. Any recommendation on brand / model? I guess I need contacts with at least 1A current carrying capability.

Thanks Lisa! I had a look at the RS site which returned a very large number of relays, but none priced as keenly as your recommendation.
