Short item in 'The Railway Magazine' for January 2008:

Trains on a Japanese line were badly disrupted when a tortoise became wedged between point blades. The creature was removed unharmed.

We modellers better be careful of a particular type of point motor.....?

Now that sits well with leaves on the line and the wrong kind of snow!!

and just think - if a train had come into contact it could have turned turtle

If it had been a chicken would it have fowled the line?

If a train had been derailed, would the railway company have had to "shell out" compensation to injured passengers?

The Blue Peter tortoise anybody, and anyway aren't tortoises a protected species?
