Wuppertal Elberfeld HO project

This is the station building for my layout.
It is based on two Pola kits with scratch building for the entrance and the roof.
Pola used 1/87 HO scale to the correct proportions
To give you some idea of the size of the building.it is standing on a workmate.

As for size, I have a cutting mat similar to yours and the small squares are 1cm. I guess yours is the same?

If you start with a quality product it certainly helps you towards a good result.
Found my drawing! it measures at its base 46x11.8 cms.

The industrial part of the layout is coming along quite nicely

This factory is mostly scratch built from plywood and detailed using Slaters plastic card.
The brick building is a modified Faller factory kit used as the Amin block.
So far twenty hours work to get to this stage and about the same to finish it.
The techniques used to produce buildings were found on www.Forsten-online.de which is available in English.
When you consider the factory is 1500mm long and 300mm high.Cost approx £40 to build Thats some saving compared to using kits.

Many thanks John,

I had small station to fiddle yard layouts for many years, Which were enjoyable
But once the little darlings leave and go into the big wide world, expansion can begin in earnest or retirement brings even bigger spaces .
Just remember great things come from small beginnings
