Yellow & Black Diagonal Stripes

When were diagonal yellow and black stripes first used on the railways? Was it late 1950’s or later than that?

Im not certain but I have a feeling it was in the early sixties.

dont know of the date but they were called 'wasp stripes'.

The earliest record I can find is 1957 when shunters were renumber into D series and had wasp stripes applied
