Hi,
I've just got an ECoS and wanted to share a few opinions on it.
Firstly it's a very nice unit, feels quite solid, and very easy to set up. Plugged it in and it worked. I upgraded the firmware to v1.0.3beta2, and not noticed any bugs. I did find one typo though, the acceleration and deceleration settings are in seconds, instead of milliseconds. Acceleration time of 12000seconds would be a bit excessive!
My two locos with Bachmann 36-553 decoders (rebadged ESU Lokpilot Basic) decoders were read fine, and I was able to change settings.
I did hit a problem with my Pendolino, with Hornby decoders. If I changed a setting (Acceleration/Deceleration) on the ECoS and then applied to the train, the train would not respond anymore. I had to reprogram the train using the Select that came with it. I think this is more a case of Hornby not sticking to the specs. Once the settings were stored with the Select, I was able to control the train fine from the ECoS.
Just waiting to get my Loksound decoder now
