I’ve put the bins out.

Well, the walls are finally all up and glued in place, the row of houses are permanently fixed, and the painted bins have been weathered, there’s rubbish overflowing in one of them and put in place.

Also, I have added some scenics alongside the siding.

It occurred to me yesterday that there’s a fundamental flaw in my layout photos, aside from the fact that I’m no photographer: they hardly ever feature any trains. A situation I fully intend to remedy in due course.

You may recall, dear reader, that I recently painted the 1/76 scale shepherd figure using weathering powders. I have a selection: a pack of 12 mixed colours in small tubs, plus three additional shades in larger Humbrol tubs, more than enough to experiment with. By mixing tiny amounts of powder with Humbrol Decalfix, I was able to achieve subtle tones of brown and green for the clothes, hat, and satchel, and a soft grey for the shirt. The boots were finished with black enamel for contrast. After allowing the figure to dry for a few days, I’ve now sealed the colours with a coat of Humbrol Matt Cote.
I have also fashioned and painted a new crook, because I broke the original when painting the figure. Obviously it will be cut down to size when the paint is dry.

I used to work on the carts. I went into the Chinese takeaway, I said, ‘where’s ya bin’? Bloke said, Hong Kong. I said, ‘no, where’s ya wheely bin’? He said, ‘I’ve wheely been to Hong Kong’.

Ah, my coat. Thanks.
