I am a complete novice so forgive me if I am asking a silly question.
I have bought a Bachmann /Graham Farish engineers train set.plus spare tracks to enlarge the layout.
I have made the base board and laid the oval track first.
I have connected contoller to tracks. The red light is on the controller and I have checked the tracks and they have a current flowing through them.
I have 2 locos and neither will move and appear to not have the current to move. The locos are not faulty so I am doing something wrong.
Can anyone help please.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

If you can use a multimeter, test the track and see what voltage you get around the oval. Perhaps the connectors are not doing their job. Make sure all the connections are clean and give the surface of the track a clean too, perhaps there is some oxidation on the track.

check the wheels on your loco's make sure there is no dirt, you dont say if the set you have is new or secondhand, when I first started in model railways I built quite a large layout and connected it up to the controller and quickly got disillusioned with poor running, the reasons were not enough power feeds around the track, dirty wheels, dirty track, this is just some basic advice as you are new to it to help you on your way, happy modeling paul

Firstly a big thank you to all the gentlemen who answered my question.Sorry I am late repliying I have been away for a few days.
I found the problem ,there was a voltage drop along a section of track and some the fishplate connections were not secure and firm as they should be.All sections secure now running fine.
I am sure I will be back with more questions as I progress. Many thanks again it is truly a marvellous site.

Best Regards

Ronnie
