A few small things have been going on with the layout over the last few days.
We are trying to build a hallowe’en and bonfire scene , keeping it seasonal. When we were in Hamburg TFME bought some BUSCH pumpkins, one of which in the set you could light up, we didn’t think that was adequate, so I drilled out a couple more of them and bore some holes for eyes and TFME wired up some tiny LEDs that she bought on line.

This week I have noticed that FS and carriages seemed to running a bit lumpy so a good wheel cleaning was in order, the FS wasn’t so bad but I don’t the think the rolling stock wheels have ever been cleaned.

Top two wheels clean the bottom two not. The gunk on them was almost like tyres, many elbow greases were needed.

What else? Ah yes, TFME has been buying stuff. 58 more passers by, and 48 seated people, a pond, a sunflower field, rows of poppies, a wildflower field, two reindeer, a Santa and presents and four park benches.

I have put the benches on the layout (see above photos), with some of the seated people, and I have put many of the new people around the layout, a few of which I have embellished with paint because the looked too similar.

It’s coming up to about 200 people on the layout now if you included the ones in the carriages, cars and bus.

Hi Carl,
As always some wonderful further additions in progress there for sure - 200'ish little people too, my don't that add up quickly eh !
Must say the layout from where it started only a few months ago now is amazing - Great work by Both of you; & Supervision by Winnie too of course.
It is also hard to believe the amount of crap that rolling stock wheels can have on them - trouble is that then if not cleaned only ends up in one place on the locos too - so another good job in progress there as well.
Looks like TFME has lots for you both to play with there too - have Fun & Cheers for now, Norm

Some of the Prieser figures—especially the men—were suffering from a severe case of colour cloning. Take the chap on the far left: jacket, trousers, shoes—all the same shade, with a necktie that matched his shirt like a synchronised swimming team. I stepped in with a darker blue for the trousers and shoes, and gave him a tie to match the footwear—much more dashing.

Second from the left was no better: hat, jacket, trousers, shoes, tie, shirt—all identically hued, as if he’d been dipped in a vat of green. I gave his hat and shoes a slick coat of black and added a bold red tie for contrast. Much improved.

Third from the left had a matching top-and-bottom ensemble, so I broke it up with grey trousers. And the fellow on the far right—despite striking a different pose—was dressed identically to the first. I gave him a denim-inspired makeover and repainted the shirt in a contrasting shade to break the spell of sameness.

There were a few other candidates for intervention, but these are just a few highlights from the repainting parade.
