Hi All,

A friend told me about this paint conversion chart which covers most major manufacturers to provide an easy to use reference ...

WOW !! That is sooooome resource !

Even has the RAL numbers I need for my "other" hobby. Ultra useful for finding the right "touch-up" paints !!

Hi Nick ,
A good tool , I used the search tool in Adobe Acrobat to find what colours match the RAL no.s of Locos , but still can't find a paint to match RAL 3031 Orient Red . Looks like I will still have to match that one by eye

I did a search for you & came up with this supplier of paint who may be able to supply smaller quantities.

Why wouldnt the international paint standards within the chart apply to modellers outside the U.K. or have you not looked at it?

any resource like this is welcome in my book as I build commisions as well as for myself,I put one up called "elegant steam" put it in your browser and have a look it is well worth a few minutes of anybodys time

Kim,

most European railroad operators use RAL colors. For instance, here is a link to the RAL tones used by the German railways.

This chart is a very neat tool imho to get the "right" colors, e.g. for touch-ups or repairs.

Curious without any specific purpose in mind... yet! Thought it could prove really useful when I do start toying with custom paint schemes for my imaginary railway! It'd be so nice if European model railway companies followed in the US' example by producing undecorated train sets...
