QUOTE (Piemanlarger @ 31 Jan 2008, 20:25) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Why not put the SWd jubilee sound chip into yours?

Its quite an exciting range for me as a modern era modeller, well would be if it were all availablle now. glad in one way its not!
I didn't know there was one. Thanks for that, I will get one.

I'll have one of those Cross Rail Voyagers too.

QUOTE (Invicta @ 31 Jan 2008, 19:05) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>and the CEP when that finally materialises... (the CEP's utterly irrelevant to my modelling interests, but I travelled on them regularly for a good 10-15 years)

It appears I wasn't that far out in my predictions at the end of last year
Image
I lived with a daily diet of CEPS until they were finally withdrawn, I might however be tempted with a Nelson or an N.

Regards

Well the Class 105 was unexpected but not much there that I will need -- but I wonder when they wilkl actually be released

Any news yet on the Class 411 from the 2007 Range -- still no date on the website

Farish to produce a Class 108 DMU

Image

Bachmann Europe PLC is to produce a British Railways Class 108 diesel multiple unit as part of the Graham Farish N gauge range. This will be produced in front of the previously announced Class 101 unit previously manufactured by the former Graham Farish company in Poole as the last of the old models to be upgraded by Bachmann. Extensive testing of the tooling followed late last year but it was soon discovered that the existing tooling could not deliver in the short-term the results our customers demand without considerable work being carried out. As a result we have advanced our longer-term plans for the Class 108 using the research and development already produced for our own OO version, which was introduced at the end of 2006. The Class 101 will follow in due course.
Built by British Railways at its Derby Works, 147 two car, 5 three car and 6 four car units were built between 1958 and 1961. Totalling 333 vehicles (210 powered and 123 trailer cars) and were generically known as 'Derby Lightweight's', although they differed considerably from the earlier batch built from 1954. They were allocated to the Eastern, North Eastern and London Midland Regions and saw service on a large number of routes around Bletchley, Carlisle, Chester, Crewe, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Preston and Sheffield. Each two car set could accommodate 117 passengers and they were ideal for use on local services and branch lines.
They later became more widespread in their travels, some seeing service on the Southern and Western Regions.

Vehicle No. 51562 was the 1,000th diesel multiple unit to be built at Derby Works. This vehicle has been preserved by the National Railway Museum at York.

The first vehicle was withdrawn in 1964 as a result of accident damage. Most survived until the early 1990s when major withdrawal took place with the arrival of second generation units for Regional Railways. A number carried Network SouthEast colours and were used latterly on the Chiltern Lines (prior to the arrival of the Network Turbo units) and the Bletchley - Bedford line. The last unit was withdrawn in October 1993. Over 50 vehicles have passed into preservation for use on heritage railways.

Image

Three two car versions will be produced in British Railways green with speed whiskers (371-875), British Rail blue / grey (371-877) and BR blue livery (371-876). The units will have a 6 pin DCC socket fitted. Each unit has a Recommended Retail Price of ÂŁ84.95.

Underground Ernie expansion continues

Image

Bachmann Europe Plc today demonstrated its expanding range of Underground Ernie electric trains at the London Toy Fair.

Bachmann released their first electric train set in time for Christmas 2006. During 2007 additional trains, track packs and International station were released in good time for Christmas 2007. 2008 will see the introduction of Mystery Mansion and Sports Stadium stations together with Ernie's self propelled inspection vehicle Ernie 1 are all due to follow in the next few weeks.

Image

So far Bachmann have released six of the trains, four track packs, International station and the starter set featuring Circle. The set comes complete with a track mat, which shows how to expand the set to gain maximum play potential.

Graham Hubbard, Managing Director of Bachmann Europe said, "we were delighted to be granted the global license to produce the range of Underground Ernie electric trains in 2006. Since then we have worked closely with the creators Joella and other licensees to ensure consistency across all products and our own range sits well within the whole family of Underground Ernie toys, books and merchandise".

Bachmann's Underground Ernie range has created the ideal platform to introduce model railways to a whole new generation to the exciting world of model railways. Youngsters can create their own story lines and play opportunities using products that are accurate reproductions of those seen on their television screens.

I have often wondered why folk will sit in front of the TV for an hour before a football/tennis/cricket match to hear the "experts" discuss at length who will win, when they could do something productive for the hour and then find out withour question who wins. Bachmann are clearly knowledgable of the deviant genes in the modern human that determine this behaviour, as they respond by telling us what wonderful models they are (may be) producing in the next 18 months, whether or not they ever materialise. I for one, cannot see the point. Why not make the bloody thing BEFORE advertising its availability. I cannot readily think of a precedent of a company advertising the availability of a product prior to even having plans to enable it to be built! But it does provide for some interesting developments in retailing: a new Ford that will do 100 mpg; or a commuter hovercraft? These products are likely on the drawing board but I like to think we will see them in the motor shows of the year they are actually on the market. Possibly the rather modest additions to the Bachmann catalogue for 2008 is an attempt to "catch up". If so, I for one will be happy.

Just to prove I am not simply a winger, as someone who has collected OO-scale models for longer than I wish to admit, I consider Bachmann Branchline's locamotives and rolling stock to be excellent - when you can purchase them.

Hmmm, expensive year for me, Jubilee, Peaks, Class 105, Mk.1 Pullmans, Class 40 in sound, Deltics (though where is the green one with sound?). More bias towards to Bachmann than Hornby, I am afraid. Oh, I have forgotten another 9F!

I can wait for 18 months, or so. Now looking forward to 2009...but not lets go down that path.

Cheers,

Hugh

the 105 DMU will be on my shopping list
Image
BUT there were variants and I would be interested to know which variant they are producing. I think although there is a lot of interesting stuff in there that wagons seem to be a little neglected

although the other variety of TEA and the Autoballaster are welcome
